When Off-the-Shelf Won't Work — Custom Machined Parts That Do

Custom equipment projects don't fit standard catalogues. They need parts designed to a specific function, machined to a specific drawing, from a specific material — and delivered on a timeline that keeps your project moving.

Axis Manufacturing works with OEM equipment builders, systems integrators, and industrial operators across Alberta to machine custom components that fit exactly where they need to fit. We review your drawings, flag any machinability issues before we cut, and deliver fully documented parts — from a single prototype to ongoing production runs.

What We Machine

Custom Equipment Components We Produce

If it can be machined and you have a drawing — we can make it. These are some of the most common custom equipment parts we produce for Alberta's industrial and OEM sector.

Custom Housings & Enclosures

Bespoke equipment housings, gearbox cases, bearing carriers, and enclosures machined to your design in aluminum, steel, or stainless.

Skid & Frame Components

Structural and functional components for equipment skids — mounting plates, brackets, spacers, and custom structural members.

±0.0005"
Shafts & Rotating Components

Precision shafts, drive components, pulleys, and rotating assemblies machined to tight concentricity and runout tolerances.

Manifolds & Flow Components

Custom fluid and gas manifolds, distribution blocks, and ported components machined from solid bar or plate stock.

Tooling & Fixtures

Custom production tooling, work-holding fixtures, jigs, and gauges machined in tool steel, aluminum, and engineering plastics.

WORN REPLACED
One-Off & Replacement Parts

Replacement parts for obsolete or discontinued equipment — machined from a sample part, drawing, or reverse-engineered from specifications.

How It Works

From Concept to Certified Custom Part

A clear process built around flexibility, speed, and quality — whether you need one part or one thousand.

Why Axis

Why OEMs & Equipment Builders Choose Axis

Four things that make Axis the right machining partner for custom and OEM equipment projects.

1→∞
Prototype to Production — One Supplier

We take your custom part from a single prototype through to full production runs without switching suppliers. Fixturing, programming, and documentation built at prototype stage carry directly into production — no re-engineering, no re-quoting from scratch.

ISO
9001:2015 Certified Quality

Custom parts need the same quality discipline as standard ones — more so, because there's no off-the-shelf fallback. Our ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system means documented processes and consistent results, even on one-off jobs.

DFM
Design for Manufacturability Review

Before we cut, we review your drawing for machinability. If we spot something that will cause problems — an unreachable feature, an unnecessarily tight tolerance, a better approach — we tell you before it becomes an expensive mistake.

YYC
Local Calgary Supplier

Being local means faster communication, easier project coordination, and shorter lead times. You can visit the shop, review parts in person, and work directly with the team machining your components — not a call centre two time zones away.

Client Feedback

What Equipment Builders Say About Axis

Real feedback from mechanical designers, maintenance managers, and project managers across Alberta's industrial sector.

★★★★★

"We design custom industrial equipment and Axis is our go-to machining partner. They review our drawings thoroughly, flag any concerns before cutting, and consistently deliver parts that fit correctly the first time. That saves us time and money."

Lead Mechanical Designer
Industrial Equipment OEM — Calgary, AB
★★★★★

"We needed a replacement part for a discontinued piece of equipment — no drawings, just a worn-out sample. Axis reverse-engineered the dimensions, machined a replacement in 4140, and it fit perfectly. Impressive capability."

Maintenance Manager
Industrial Operator — Edmonton, AB
★★★★★

"We prototyped a custom skid component with Axis and moved straight into a production run of 150 pieces. Same team, same quality, no re-engineering. That kind of continuity from prototype to production is rare and genuinely valuable."

Project Manager

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers on no-drawing jobs, minimum quantities, DFM reviews, and repeat production programs.

In some cases, yes. For replacement parts we can work from a physical sample, taking measurements and machining a matching part. For new designs, we prefer to work from engineering drawings or CAD files to ensure dimensional accuracy and maintain proper documentation. We can also work with rough concept sketches and help develop the drawing with you.
There is no minimum order quantity. We regularly machine single one-off parts, short runs of 5–50 pieces, and full production orders of hundreds or thousands of parts. Setup costs are factored into the quote, so per-unit pricing reflects quantity, but we'll always take the job if we can do it well.
Yes — and we do it as a standard part of our quoting process. Before programming begins, we review your drawing for features that may be difficult to machine, tolerances that are tighter than necessary, or approaches that would reduce cost or lead time. We flag these before we cut, not after.
Yes. We can machine from customer-supplied bar stock, plate, or forgings if you have specific material requirements or existing inventory to use. We'll note in the quote that material is customer-supplied, and documentation will reflect this for traceability purposes.
Once a part has been programmed and run, we retain the CNC program, fixturing setup, and process documentation. Repeat orders are quoted based on stored programs and setup — typically faster and more cost-effective than the first run. We also offer scheduled production arrangements for clients with regular ongoing requirements.
