What We Do

Our Full CNC Machining Capability Set

Five core capabilities — all performed in-house at our Calgary facility, all running under our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.

Capability 01
CNC Milling — 3 & 4 Axis

Our CNC milling centres run 3-axis and 4-axis operations — from flat surface machining and pocket milling to complex 3D surface profiles and compound angle work. All toolpaths are programmed in GibbsCAM for optimised cycle times and surface finish.

Capability 02
CNC Turning — Up to 28" Diameter

Precision CNC turning for round and cylindrical components up to 28 inches in diameter — covering bar stock, billet, and forgings. Ideal for shafts, mandrels, valve bodies, downhole subs, and large energy sector components.

Capability 03
Prototype & Short Run Production

Fast turnaround on 1 to 50-piece prototype and short run orders. We review your files for machinability, program quickly, and pull from certified in-house stock — so you're not waiting on material. First article inspection included on every prototype order.

Production Machining

High-volume production runs with dedicated fixturing, locked-in setups, and in-process inspection at every cycle. Part 1 and part 1,000 meet the same standard — because our quality system is built to maintain consistency, not just achieve it once.

Capability 05
Assembly & Secondary Operations

Beyond raw machining — we handle deburring, edge finishing, threading, tapping, and sub-assembly in-house. Parts arrive at your facility install-ready, with full inspection records and documentation. One supplier for machining and assembly means fewer handoffs and faster delivery.

How We Work

From Your Drawing to Certified Part — Our Process

A straightforward, documented process that gives you visibility at every stage.

01
Send Your Drawings

Upload CAD, DXF, STEP files or drawings. We review for machinability, material fit, and tolerance before quoting.

02
Receive Your Quote

Detailed quote covering material, lead time, process approach, and documentation. No vague timelines, no hidden costs.

03
We Machine Your Parts

GibbsCAM programming, ISO 9001:2015 quality control, and in-process inspection at every stage.

04
Certified Delivery

Parts ship with material certs, dimensional inspection records, and all documentation your team requires.

Why Axis

Why Engineers & Procurement Teams Choose Axis

Six reasons our clients keep coming back — and refer us to their colleagues.

ISO 9001:2015 Certified

Every job runs under a documented, audited quality management system. In-process inspection, dimensional verification, and process records are standard — not extras.

Full Material Traceability

Mill certs, heat numbers, and material documentation travel with every job from intake through to final delivery. Your compliance team gets the paper trail it needs.

Quick-Turn Available

When timelines are tight, we can prioritize urgent orders. From drawing to certified part faster than most shops can even respond to the RFQ.

GibbsCAM Programming

Advanced CAM programming on every job — optimised toolpaths for surface finish, cycle time, and dimensional repeatability. Your CAD model integrates directly.

Prototype to Production

We take parts from a single first article through to full production runs — same supplier, same quality, no re-engineering. Fixturing and programs carry directly forward.

Calgary-Based, Alberta-Focused

We're local. Faster lead times, easier communication, and a machining partner who understands Alberta's oil & gas, energy, and industrial sectors from the inside.

Materials

Materials We Machine

What Our Clients Say About Axis

Real feedback from procurement managers, project engineers, and R&D directors across Alberta's energy sector.

★★★★★

"Axis is our go-to machine shop in Calgary. They handle everything from prototype milling to full production turning runs — same quality, same documentation, every time. The ISO certification isn't just a badge with them. It's how they actually work."

Procurement Manager
Oil & Gas Equipment Supplier — Calgary, AB
★★★★★

"We've used Axis for CNC turning, milling, and assembly work across multiple projects. What stands out is the consistency — parts arrive to spec, on time, with everything documented. You don't have to chase them for certs. It's just included."

Project Engineer
Energy Infrastructure Company — Edmonton, AB
★★★★★

"We brought Axis a complex downhole tool body in Inconel 718 — tight bore tolerances, custom threading, short timeline. They delivered first time. Their GibbsCAM programming and machining expertise on exotic materials is genuinely impressive."

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers on file formats, certifications, order quantities, urgent jobs, and exotic alloys.

We work with STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG, and PDF engineering drawings. Our GibbsCAM system integrates directly with 3D CAD files. We review every file for machinability before programming and flag any concerns before cutting begins — not after.
Yes — mill certs and material documentation are standard on every job, not an add-on. We source from certified suppliers, maintain full heat number traceability from intake through to the finished part, and include all material documentation with every shipment.
There is no minimum. We machine single one-off prototype parts, short runs of 5–50 pieces, and full production orders of hundreds or thousands. Setup costs are factored into the quote, so per-unit pricing reflects quantity — but we'll always take the job if we can do it well.
Yes. We offer quick-turn prioritization for urgent orders — particularly for oil & gas and downhole clients where a missing component means costly downtime. Contact us directly with your requirements and timeline. We'll tell you exactly what we can do and get you a quote fast.
Yes. We regularly machine Inconel 625, Inconel 718, Monel, and other nickel-based superalloys for high-temperature and corrosion-resistant applications. Our GibbsCAM programming is optimized for these materials to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish throughout the cut.
We're located at Bay 3, 4440 75 Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta. We ship machined components across Alberta and beyond — Edmonton, Red Deer, Fort McMurray, and remote field locations. Local Calgary clients also have the option to pick up directly from our facility.
